Summer is finally here! It’s hot, all restrictions have been lifted, the sky is blue, the sea is crystal-clear—the best season of the year can begin!
Whether for lunch or even dinner, this round bread, drizzled with olive oil and generously topped, is the perfect choice. You can eat it right there or take it with you wherever you go—it brings sunshine and good cheer to even the most discerning palates.
On the French Riviera, it’s a must-try and you’ll find it everywhere; here are my favorite spots from Menton to Cannes:
In Menton: D’Aqui

Everything here is delicious! Local cuisine, made by locals. I love the mini Pan Bagnats—they’re easy to enjoy at any time of day.

In Monaco: At Costa’s

Costa boasts fifty years of experience, fresh, locally sourced products, and is a favorite spot among locals. The Pan Bagnat is available for takeout or to enjoy on-site overlooking the sea, in a cool setting with a warm welcome.

In Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat: La Boulangerie du Port

Take it to go and enjoy it while taking the wonderful walk along the coast to the lighthouse—it’s made with local olive oil. Truly delicious!
5 Avenue Jean Mermoz, 06230 Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Tel: +33 493 76 05 75.
In Villefranche-sur-Mer: La Voile Bleue

Overlooking the sea and Villefranche Bay, you can enjoy it here or take it to go—it’s truly excellent—and it’s a must-visit spot for connoisseurs as soon as the sun comes out.
23 Promenade des Marinières, 06230 Villefranche-sur-Mer. Tel: +33 493 01 86 95.
In Nice: Lou Balico

This place is a true institution that everyone loves. Since 1979, this restaurant—known for its Nice-style cuisine—has been run by the same family for three generations. If you want to try the authentic Pan Bagnat, you absolutely must give it a try, whether you eat in or take it to go.
20 Avenue Saint-Jean-Baptiste, 06000 Nice. Tel: +33 493 85 93 71.
In Cannes: Martinez Beach

This summer, you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite sandwich on one of the most chic beaches along the Croisette. It’s delicious, sophisticated, and set in an idyllic setting. Paradise!
