Summer has finally arrived on the Côte d’Azur! Although the heat and sunshine have been present for a long time, the full lifting of lockdown marks freedom and therefore the beginning of the holidays.
Caution is nevertheless required, and the barrier gestures must be respected well, which is why ice cream is a pleasure you can indulge in safely.
On the spot or to take away, in a tub or a cone, topped with sauce or whipped cream, at any time of the day, there is nothing better than a good ice cream in summer!
There are many very good ice cream parlours in our region, renowned and well known, but I have decided to give you here only those I prefer, and where I go regularly:
In Cannes: at Niva:

Niva, how can I explain it, is a moment of intense and wonderful happiness. These ice creams are absolutely delicious! Made from exceptional fresh products with Italian expertise (Turin), without colouring or additives, you can only indulge yourself. The fresh whipped cream served with a spoon is to die for. On the spot (a very beautiful terrace on a street that has just been completely renovated), or to take away, if you are in Cannes you absolutely must try it.
75 rue Félix Faure, 06400 Cannes. Tel: 09 51 13 87 34.
In Antibes: Gelateria del Porto:

Don’t be surprised to see a queue several metres long in front of this Antibes institution. Renowned for making exceptional ice creams, we feared a little the departure of the owner… we were wrong: the team that took over worked alongside him for a year, and so was able to preserve the know-how and quality that made this place famous. Take-away only (there is a small bench, but I advise you to go and enjoy your ice cream in old Antibes, or on the magnificent harbour).
4 rue Aubernon, 06600 Antibes. Tel: 07 66 32 08 74.
In Nice: at Néron:

Louis Dubois invites us on a sweet and icy gastronomic journey through his subtle and delicious creations. A former pastry chef at the Ritz, at Fauchon and at Pierre Gagnaire’s restaurant in London, he works with exceptional products that are as local as possible: lemon from our region, pistachio from Iran, vanilla from Tahiti, all without colourings or additives. The sorbets contain 70% fruit and the cones are made in-house… pure happiness! On the spot, a small terrace, or to take away.
15 Place Saint François, 06000 Nice. Tel: 06 56 88 03 76.
In Beaulieu: at Giampi, the harbour ice cream maker:

Here everything is artisanal, without colourings and without additives. Creations as delicious as they are surprising, and a lounge terrace overlooking the pretty harbour of Beaulieu, for relaxing while savouring your ice cream: paradise. I adore the coconut sorbet, the rum raisin.
Port de Plaisance, 06310 Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
In Monaco: at Santo Gelato:

Since 2007, Roberto and Nicoletta have offered ice creams made by their own hands, composed solely of fresh, natural, seasonal products, and without colourings. They favour local producers but also exceptional products such as Alba hazelnuts, Bronte pistachios, or the soft salt of Cervia for the caramel. The result: delicious ice creams and an incomparable taste. On the spot or to take away, in a cone (made in Monaco) or in a tub, you are going to indulge yourself.
3 Place d’Armes, 98000, Monaco. Tel: +377 99 90 87 03.
In Saint-Paul-de-Vence: at Dolce Italia:

This little ice cream parlour, with a few tables outside, takes us back in time, to when stone, nature and artisanal products were in honour. Here there are few flavours, but all are delicious and homemade, without colourings or additives. The Italian expertise and the charm of Saint-Paul… I adore it! If you are craving something, a real Italian coffee will be served to you with a smile.
13 Place de la Mairie, 06570 Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Tel: 06 18 35 53 57.
