What a treat for horse lovers, the prestigious competition celebrating the beauty and heritage of the finest Arabian thoroughbreds, will take place in Cannes on June 11 and 12, 2024, just after Jumping, in an idyllic setting that will showcase the splendor and grace of Arabian horses.
The GCAT, inaugurated in 2024, is a brand-new, exclusive championship reserved for Arabian horses. The Tour takes place in the Middle East and Europe, and comprises 7 stages: Doha (February), Abu Dhabi (February), Muscat (March), Cannes (June), Valkenswaard (July), Rome (September).and Riyadh in November. This competition offers the highest prize money ever achieved in sport: 17 million euros in total.
The GCAT is a competition made up of 20 judges from all over the world, who will evaluate these magnificent Arabian thoroughbreds according to 5 criteria: type, head and neck, body and topline, legs, and movement. Each criterion is worth 20 points, so the maximum score is 100.
Riders from all over the world will be competing for the highest prize money in the history of Arabian horse shows. The prize money is over 1 million euros. It will be awarded at the end of the season to the first female, the first male, the first handler and the overall winner.
After the stages in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Muscat, D Borkan of the Dubai Arabian Horse Club is currently leading the male rankings with a total of 54/60 points.
AJ Kayya , bred and owned by Ajman Stud, leads the female ranking with 60/60 points, and has been unbeatable in the competition to date.
For the time being, the Italian Paolo Capecci leads the way with 168 points.
In addition to the Arabian horse show, the event will feature cultural performances, numerous activities in a luxurious setting, exhibitions and a breathtaking closing ceremony.
A village featuring a range of local and international brands will introduce visitors to the rich history and art of Arabian horses, blended with French culture.
