The Principality of Monaco decided to follow our Italian neighbors and decontain on Monday, May 4th. No new reported cases of Covid, a low rate of contamination, and a need for economic recovery have decided the Monegasque Government to stop the containment.
Of course, strict rules have been announced, and this deconfinement will be done, as in France, in stages.
For this phase 1:
1) rules:
- Masks are mandatory on public transportation, cabs and all passenger vehicles, as well as in stores and shopping malls. Also in places of worship.
- Gathering of 5 people maximum in public spaces.
- Social distance of 1m50 minimum.
- Provision of gel in the stores.
2) what will be opened and allowed:
- Stores and shopping centers.
- Hairdressers and beauty salons by appointment only.
- Boating allowed from 9am to 8pm.
- Water sports allowed.
- Places of worship open and religious marriages allowed.
- The heliport will partially resume its activity for on-demand flights.
- Public services will be open again.
- Public and private worksites can resume, with very strict sanitary measures that will be monitored regularly.
3) what remains closed and forbidden:
- The beaches are forbidden.
- Gardens and children's games are prohibited.
- Sports and all outdoor sports facilities are prohibited.
- The sports halls are always closed.
- Restaurants, cafes and night clubs remain closed.
- Cinemas, theaters, game rooms, also remain closed.
- Cruise ships are not allowed in the Principality.
All these restrictions will be evaluated after two weeks, followed by a one-week reflection to establish new rules: the Stop and Go strategy to control a possible resumption of the epidemic. The objective is to lift the last restrictions if there are no new cases, or to confine again if the epidemic resumes; hence the importance of respecting the rules to limit the risk of transmission and resumption of this epidemic.
