Many people don’t know this, but Christian Dior spent the best years of his life on the French Riviera.
The atmosphere of our beautiful region—its climate and natural surroundings—has inspired the artist not only in her artwork but also in her fragrances.
La Colle Noire Castle

It was in the 1950s, after a happy, middle-class upbringing and following the dark years of World War II, that Christian Dior decided to settle at the Château de La Colle Noire in Montauroux.
Her passion for flowers

His love for the region and his attachment to Provence truly came to life in this “garden home.” He decorated every room, designed the garden, and planted the flowers so dear to his heart—flowers that appear everywhere and are the very essence of his fragrances.
The Origin of His Fragrances

May roses and jasmine from Grasse form the basis of her fragrances and express her deep passion for flowers, which truly blossomed at this house. Miss Dior, her first fragrance, created exclusively with flowers from Grasse, would be the first in a magnificent series.
Dior Perfume Bottles

The Miss Dior Eau de Parfum bottle: entirely hand-assembled with the famous gold thread wrapped around it, each bottle is unique and different because it is handmade. It features the famous bow, which must not extend beyond the shoulders (the top of the bottle represents the shoulders). It also features the ribbed pattern representing the iconic houndstooth motif, a recurring element in the designs of Christian Dior, who was the first to use this pattern to create suits, shoes, bags, and perfume packaging. It would go on to become the emblem of the House of Dior.

The amphora-shaped bottle, highlighted by the theatrical presentation that is always a hallmark of Dior. We love to showcase each fragrance; we elevate it through its presentation.
Her dresses and the flowers

Her passion for flowers is evident in all her designs—her dresses, embroidered with hundreds of flowers, and colors that evoke extraordinary blooms.
His inspirations and style

Christian Dior was a cheerful and positive man; he loved life, colors, and beauty, but also simplicity and extreme refinement. Versailles was a major source of inspiration for him, and his style is evident in his designs, particularly in the famous “pleated” fabric. Dior’s signature colors—pink, pearl gray, and black—are the main elements of his dresses, handbags, and jewelry.
The Love of Women

He adored women and wanted to pay tribute to them by honoring them through his creations. The woman who was the source of his inspiration and his creations was his sister, Catherine, for whom he had unwavering admiration and love. His first perfume, Miss Dior, is dedicated to her.

A fragrance paying tribute to his final resting place: La Colle Noire

This fragrance from Dior’s Collection Privée pays a powerful tribute to the famous designer and his favorite, legendary flower: the May rose. We owe this olfactory marvel to François Demachy, who brought out the woody, amber, spicy, and musky notes of this iconic flower. It is a nod to the magnificent fields of Grasse from which it originates—and a nod to Christian Dior’s happiest years in our region, which he loved so dearly.
