Many people don’t know it, but Christian Dior spent his finest years on the Côte d’Azur.
The atmosphere of our beautiful region, its climate and its nature, inspired the artist, not only for his creations but also for his perfumes.
Le Château de La Colle Noire

It was in the 1950s, after a happy bourgeois youth and after the dark years of the Second World War, that Christian Dior decided to settle at the Château de La Colle Noire, in Montauroux.
His passion for flowers

His love for the region and his attachment to Provence found its fullest meaning in this “garden house”. He decorated every room, designed the garden, and planted there the flowers so precious to his heart, flowers depicted everywhere, and the very essence of his perfumes.
The origin of his perfumes

May roses and Grasse jasmine compose his perfumes and express his deep passion for flowers, which truly blossomed in this house. Miss Dior, his first perfume, created exclusively with flowers from Grasse, would be the first of a magnificent series.
The Dior perfume bottles

The Miss Dior parfum extrait bottle is entirely hand-assembled with the famous golden thread wound around it, making it unique: no two bottles are alike, since each is handmade. It features the famous bow, which must not exceed the shoulders (the top of the bottle represents the shoulders). It also features the cannage motif, which evokes the iconic houndstooth pattern, so present in Christian Dior’s creations. He was the first to use this motif for suits, shoes, bags and perfume packaging. It would later become the emblem of the Dior house.

The amphora bottle, showcased through the theatrical presentation that is always present at Dior. We love to stage each perfume, and to elevate it through its presentation.
His dresses and flowers

His passion for flowers is found in all his creations: his dresses, embroidered with hundreds of flowers, and colors that evoke exceptional blossoms.
His inspirations and his style

Christian Dior was a joyful and positive man. He loved life, colors and beauty, but also simplicity and extreme refinement. Versailles greatly inspired him, and his style can be seen in his creations through the famous pleating of the fabric. Dior’s colors (pink, pearl grey and black) essentially make up his dresses, bags and jewelry.
The love of women

He adored women and wanted to pay them tribute through his creations. The woman who was the origin of his inspiration and creations is his sister, Catherine, for whom he had unfailing admiration and love. His first perfume, Miss Dior, is moreover dedicated to her.

A perfume in homage to his final home: La Colle Noire

This perfume from Dior’s Private Collection pays powerful tribute to the famous designer and to his favorite and legendary flower: the May rose. We owe this olfactory marvel to François Demachy, who brought out the woody, amber, spicy and musky fragrances of this beloved flower. A nod to the marvelous Grasse fields from which it comes, and a nod to the happiest years Christian Dior spent in our region, which he loved so much.
