Valentines, the countdown has begun: you only have a few days left to plan the most romantic and passionate evening for the love of your life. Of course, when you’re in love, Valentine’s Day is something to celebrate every day. But that’s no reason not to try to plan the perfect evening once a year—perfect, of course, according to each person’s own standards.
Why is February 14 a day for lovers? In the 14th century, people chose this day to celebrate love because they believed it was the day birds chose to mate.
But it was especially in the 17th century that Valentine’s Day became popular; in fact, William Shakespeare has Ophelia sing in *Hamlet*: “Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.”
These days, Valentine’s Day has become a full-fledged holiday that is celebrated everywhere.
The French Riviera, romantic by definition, is the perfect place to spend Valentine’s Day. Breathtaking scenery, an ideal climate, and a zest for life everywhere you look.
Here are my recommendations for a romantic getaway with your Valentine:
A hotel:
Hôtel Amour, Nice:

Just like Paris, we now have our own Amour Hotel. Starting with the name—perfectly suited to the occasion—and then the atmosphere and decor, this hotel has a special charm that I really love. For this special occasion, book two nights and get one night free. Very trendy, with an atmosphere that exudes trendy youthfulness, and for Valentine’s Day dinner, the famous pasta with meatballs just like in the classic animated film *Lady and the Tramp*. How original! 3 Avenue des Fleurs, Nice. Tel: +33 465 27 10 10.
A restaurant:
Jasmin Grill & Lounge, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat:

Imagine yourself facing the sea and the legendary Villa Grecque, surrounded by absolute tranquility and sophistication, with the feeling that it’s just the two of you. One of the most romantic spots on the French Riviera. A special Valentine’s Day menu for €105 per person (excluding drinks), featuring refined dishes and live music by “The Presidents.” We’re also offering a stay package that includes one night in a double room, a room upgrade, a buffet breakfast, a bottle of champagne, and a romantic treat, starting at €243 per night on February 14 and 15. 3 Avenue Jean Monnet, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Tel: +33 493 76 31 00.
A bar:
The Patio at the Hôtel de Paris in Monte Carlo:

There are places that make you lose track of time. This patio perfectly captures Monaco’s romantic and sophisticated atmosphere. It’s a wonderfully relaxing place, and its chic ambiance, combined with the light, will make your experience truly unique. Place du Casino, Monaco. Tel: +377 98 06 30 00.
A gift:
A Monegasque fragrance:

“Cedro Di Diamante” by Perris Monte-Carlo. A very refined unisex fragrance to wear as often as you like. Created in 2018 by the renowned perfumer Lucas Maffei—whose passion for the craft was passed down to him by his father, Marco Maffei, who is also highly regarded—this citrus fragrance features notes of citron, lemon, ginger, and musk. A true marvel. Paris 8 Haute Parfumerie, 5 Avenue Princesse Alice, Monaco. Tel: +377 97 97 18 84.
A store:
Ballanger in Nice:

I chose Ballanger for its “Pomme d’amour”: sugar, caramelized and colored red, coating an apple—simple but so delicious! At Ballanger, it’s been a family affair since 1926. Here, working with sugar is a true passion, and you can enjoy it in all its forms: as a thin web for cotton candy, stretched into lollipops or candy sticks, and as caramel in the “Pomme d’Amour,” a symbol of Valentine’s Day. 13 Avenue Jean Médecin, Nice. Tel: +33 983 61 06 55.
A museum:
Peynet Museum in Antibes:

In honor of the famous “Amoureux de Peynet,” every year on Valentine’s Day, this museum organizes special exhibitions to showcase the artist’s lesser-known works to the public. Thanks to Peynet, this city is now dedicated to love. In fact, when you get married in Antibes, you receive a “certificate of love,” which attracts many foreigners who come to have their marriage registered in this city specifically to receive the certificate. Place Nationale, Antibes. Tel: +33 492 90 54 30.
For children:
The “Pain Amour et Chocolat” Fair in Antibes:

Kids deserve their own Valentine’s Day, too! This fair is the perfect way to immerse them in a fun, loving atmosphere; the lineup includes chocolates, pastries, and sweets from the best Italian and French producers, as well as drawing and face-painting workshops for kids—all with a love theme. A real treat! For more information, visit: www.amourchocolat.fr
