For several years now, the city of Nice has undergone numerous transformations with development works forming part of a genuine development project, the goal of Mr. Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, his team and the Métropole.

Even though the renovation of all the neighborhoods is far from complete, what has already been achieved is a true success.

Everything has been rethought to increase the city’s appeal, Nice being the fifth-largest city in France and one of the most visited in the world.

A successful wager: Christian Estrosi has managed to preserve the city’s authenticity, its art, its culture and its riches, while modernizing and developing it to increase its capacity to welcome visitors.

Transportation: major works have been carried out to connect all of the city’s neighborhoods more easily, not only with the tramway, but also to provide access to Nice Airport.

There are buses that allow Niçois to travel throughout the region. Also convenient for those who work at Sophia Antipolis is the Sofia Express bus, which runs every quarter of an hour during peak hours and connects Nice to Sophia in 45 minutes via the highway, for 1.50 euros.

All of these developments are, of course, part of the ecological project that is dear to France and the French. All of these means of transport will allow the people of the region and tourists to use their vehicles less.

Christian Estrosi has also launched his plan for greening and building bike lanes, which is in the process of beautifying every neighborhood of Nice.

To complete this project, the development of green spaces: after the magnificent Coulée Verte at the heart of the city, the Parc Nice Eco-Vallée will provide a green lung for the “new Nice” that is developing to the west of the city.

We must not forget the rail transport, which is very important for the people of the region, with the complete redevelopment of the central station Nice-Thiers and its neighborhood.

Let us also remember that Nice is the student city of the region, since all the universities are concentrated here. It was therefore necessary to facilitate student life with the creation of new campuses, including, for example, one dedicated to apprenticeship students, which will train its students for the jobs of the future (planned for 2020).

The prettiest streets of the city have also been redeveloped, and will be further, such as the famous Avenue Victor Hugo, to name just one, with plants and flowers that are one of the symbols of the city.

When it comes to prestigious events, Nice has nothing to envy its rivals: after the Nice Jazz Festival, the Carnival, the Biennale des Arts and the Fête de la Musique, there is now the Cinéroman Festival to complete an already busy calendar. We must not forget the major sporting events either, such as the Ironman France, the international half-marathon, the Paris-Nice cycling race, the Europétanque, the international Star of Christmas regattas, or the international triathlon, among others.

Nizza la Bella is being reborn, and it is a joy to see the city where I was born, where I attended high school and university, regain all the beauty it deserves. Bravo and thank you to Christian Estrosi!
