Many people don't know it, but Christian Dior spent his best years on the French Riviera.
The atmosphere of our beautiful region, the climate, the nature, have inspired the artist, not only for his creations, but also for his perfumes.
The Castle of La Colle Noire
In the 1950s, after a happy, bourgeois youth and the dark years of the Second World War, Christian Dior decided to settle at the Château de La Colle Noire, in Montauroux.
His passion for flowers
His love for the region and his attachment to Provence took on its full meaning in this "garden house". He decorated each room, designed the garden, planted the flowers so precious to his heart, flowers represented everywhere, and the very essence of his perfumes.
The origin of its perfumes
The roses of May and the jasmine of Grasse compose his perfumes and express his strong passion for flowers, which has really blossomed in this house. Miss Dior, her first perfume, created only with flowers from Grasse, will be the first of a magnificent series.
Dior perfume bottles
The Miss Dior bottle of perfume extract: entirely handmade with the famous golden thread around it, it is unique, each bottle is different because it is handmade. We find the famous knot which must not exceed the shoulders (the top of the bottle represents the shoulders). We also find the cane which represents the iconic houndstooth, very present in the creations of Christian Dior, who was the first to use this pattern to create suits, shoes, bags and perfume packaging. It will become the emblem of the house Dior.
The amphora bottle, highlighted by the theatrical presentation, always present at Dior. We like to stage each perfume, we sublimate it by the presentation.
Her dresses and the flowers
Her passion for flowers can be seen on all her creations, her dresses, embroidered with hundreds of flowers, the colors reminiscent of exceptional flowers.
His inspirations and style
Christian Dior was a joyful and positive man, he loved life, colors, beauty, but also sobriety, extreme refinement. Versailles inspired him a lot, we find his style in his creations with the famous "pleated" fabric. The Dior colors, pink, pearl gray and black, compose essentially his dresses, his bags but also his jewelry.
The love of women
He adored women, and wanted to pay tribute to them by honoring them with his creations. The woman who was the source of his inspiration and creations was his sister, Catherine, for whom he had an unwavering admiration and love. His first perfume, Miss Dior, is dedicated to her.
A perfume in homage to his final resting place: La Colle Noire
This perfume from the Dior Private Collection, pays a powerful tribute to the famous designer and his favorite and mythical flower: the May rose. We owe this olfactory marvel to François Demachy, who highlighted the woody, amber, spicy and musky fragrances of this favorite flower. A nod to the wonderful fields of Grasse from which it comes. And a nod to Christian Dior's happiest years in our region, which he loved so much.
