The Monaco Jumping kicked off today to welcome the elite of the discipline, who will compete fiercely for the LGCT Grand Prix du Prince de Monaco, presented by Tennor and worth 300,000 euros, of which 100,000 euros goes to the winner.
The first Global Champions League competition took place this evening under a magnificent sunset, at 1.50/1.55 m, on a technical course of 12 obstacles/14 efforts with a raised plateau.

42 pairs, including 15 GCL teams, competed on a complex course designed by course designer Frank Rothenberger. The course, full of challenges, including a faulty final combination (a vertical/oxer double), was masterfully handled by Frenchman Julien Epaillard, who wins the competition by more than six seconds, riding his magnificent horse, Usual Suspect d’Auge.

Late in the afternoon, the CSI5 began with the Prix de la Fédération Équestre de la Principauté de Monaco at 1.45 m. This event, held in two phases, allowed the 48 riders to size up the 2019 course of the Jumping International de Monte-Carlo. The Egyptian Abdel Saïd claimed victory with his majestic partner Venise du Reverdy.

Let us also celebrate Sarah Benatar’s victory to the sound of the Marseillaise in the two-phase event at 1.10/1.15 m of the CSI2, riding the elegant Upsider des Douits.
